My name is Brian Hurley and I am your Legilative Chairman for 2006. I wanted to provide the most recent update regarding bill SB 2320. 
 
Bob Levy has related that Sen. Victor Christ has Senate Bill 2320 filed, this bill is now in the Senate Judiciary Committee. Sen. Dan Webster, Chairman of the Judiciary Committee has committed to schedule SB 2320 for a hearing as soon as the House Bill is released by the Speaker. 
 
In regards to the House version, Ana Garcia, Legislative Asst. to Rep. Gus Barreiro has informed that Rep. Barreiros' committee, Justice Appropriations, has filed the bill with the Speaker's office and that they are awaiting the Speaker's approval to move the bill further. 
 
Bob Levy has been working in concert with the Sheriff's Association and the Florida Association of Counties and in paticular lobbyists for Miami Dade County to effect passage of this increase.
